Instructor Rating (Burlington)

As one of the busiest flight schools in Ontario, Spectrum Airways prides itself on the instructors we hire. As a flight school with high standards, the flight training conducted by our instructors is some of the best in the industry, and we are proud of the instructors we train. Because of this regimented training, we have a preference for instructors trained here. As a class IV instructor you can expect to earn a competitive starting wage, and log 600-1000 hours per year.
Due to fluctuation of instructor need, obtaining the Instructor Rating with us
does not necessarily guarantee a job at Spectrum Airways. All Instructor Ratings are conducted in Burlington.

Flight Training

The prerequisite for this is a valid Commercial Licence or ATPL. Ground training may begin once the commercial written exam and flight test are completed successfully. Flight training may begin when a valid Commercial Licence is held. To complete the program you must acquire a minimum of 30 hours dual training with a Class I Instructor. This time shall include a minimum of 5 hours of training in the teaching of instrument flight skills. A maximum of 5 of the 30 hours may be conducted on the flight simulator.

Ground School

A minimum of 25 hours of Instructor Rating Ground School is required. We offer this ground school on a one-on-one basis with bookings made at your convenience, or a group class is available.

Examinations

A Transport Canada Flight Test and Written Examination are required. Spectrum airways has a flight examiner on staff, as well as several in the area who are qualified to administer flight tests. The written examination is conducted at a Transport Canada office and must be successfully completed prior to the flight test.
