Comprehensive Flight Classes in Burlington


We offer Transport Canada approved ground school training for both Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot licenses throughout the year. Below are our scheduled classes for 2019.

Saturday classes are held in the mornings from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
Weekday classes are held in the evenings from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.

Course fees are non-refundable and must be paid in full at least 48 hours prior to the start date to guarantee a seat in the class.

Private Pilot (PPL) Ground School


A minimum of 40 hours of ground school is required by Transport Canada in order to obtain your Private Pilot's License. Our comprehensive ground school is held on sight at the Burlington Airpark in the classroom facilities. The classes are held once per week, for 16 weeks (accelerated is twice per week, for 8 weeks), in 3 hour blocks of time. Completing the ground school is not a prerequisite to start flight training, but it is recommended to be enrolled in ground school as you complete the in-flight training. In order to complement student learning in the classroom, Spectrum Airways offers a ground school kit that will include everything the student needs to study, as well as to assist in their flight training. Commercial Pilot (CPL) Ground School


A minimum of 80 hours of ground school is required to obtain a Commercial Pilot's License. Spectrum Airways runs the commercial ground school twice per year, but is not a prerequisite to commence flight training. The classes are held at the Burlington Airpark on a twice per week basis.

Topics required by Transport Canada for the CPL are of the same subject material for the PPL, however the depth and complexity of each subject that is expanded through the CPL course and requires a much greater understanding. Much of this advanced content includes information that is used to further pilot development when earning additional ratings (Instrument, Multi-Engine, etc).
